Millennium
Bug Toolkit Network Version
The
network version of the Millennium bug toolkit
offers complete peace of mind for the network
supervisor with the minimum of installation
or administrative intervention. The client /
server distribution allows you to test and fix
hundreds of PC's across your network without
leaving your seat.

Server
The
network server administration system allows you specify
which computers to install the client program on and
which tests to perform. The system then modifies the
log-in script (NT and Novell) so that each client
machine will runs the test next time a user logs on.
Once the tests have been completed on the network
workstation the results are sent to the server for
analysis. As the following screen shot shows, you
are presented with a complete picture of the status
of your network.
Client
The
client contains the full functionality of the Millennium
Bug Toolkit, performing 11 definitive tests on the
PC hardware ( full details are available from our
features page
). If any tests fail a software fix will be installed
and the server informed. The client program runs in
DOS mode to keep your data safe whilst the tests are
performed.
Software
The Network version of the Millennium Bug Toolkit
not only tests the hardware of every PC on your network
but also provides Millennium compliance statements
for the software installed on them. Statements covering
over 3000 software packages from 150 manufacturers
are provided covering over 90% of installed applications
worldwide.
We are continually adding to this database to try
and cover as many packages as possible. The latest
versions of the database (dated 1998-09-11) are available
from our updates
page.
You can download a copy of the manual for version
3.51 here (2MB). Before downloading this
please make sure that you have enough free disk space,
it is a zipped RTF file which expands to 75MB.

If you don't yet have a copy you can download a demo
version:
Instructions:
1. Download the zip file.
2. Unzip the files to a temporary directory.
3. Run "setup.exe" and simple follow the instructions
for installation as prompted.
The demo version has the following limitations:

Client machines cannot be tested (demo version
comes with sample data)

Millennium compliance reports are only provided
for software packages with names beginning with
A, B and C.

The licensing functionality is disabled
-
Configuring the common files area has no effect
